Following my series of successful webinars and seminars on this significant topic, I have been frequently asked if I would conduct more courses on line as well as group supervision.

My role on the Expert Reference Group in the Family Justice Review (Te Korowai Ture ā-Whānau), ordered by the government, gave me significant insight into upcoming policy decisions about including children. My original published research (“Hello,I’m a voice, let me talk. Child inclusive mediation in family separation “) continues to be cited nationally and internationally.

The model described in it is one which I continue to use and to teach – along with variations. I refer to this approach, that I developed and have used in my practice as The Goldson Model.

The teaching of this empirically proven process includes an understanding of family systems, attachment and child development, the psychology of the rearranging family, family law, the child interview, the feedback process and the creation of durable outcomes.

Child inclusion and the resist/refuse alienation dynamic

Following my training in London at the Family Separation Clinic, and extensive consultations

with experts in Scotland and Ireland, I have had the opportunity to amass tools and

information for practitioners dealing with these difficult situations.

I teach using case studies and discussion and about the essential collaboration needed to

support this extreme end of child inclusive practice.

I also teach the different perspectives on child alienation and encourage robust discussion

and consideration of the causative factors of this vexed topic.

Using groupwork to help children

The impact of working with children in groups, cannot be underestimated.

I have run many groups for children constellating around specific themes, and in particular

about separation, grief and loss.

This on line course is seen to be of immense value to those who work in child populations,

such as school counsellors. The course covers child development theory, the theory of

groupwork and its dynamics, the family lifecycle and the management of child anxiety and

Depression. Topics addressed and tools and methodology used are addressed.

Working with the high conflict separation

This on line series looks at the dynamics of high conflict between partners and ex partners.

Theories of conflict are examined, as are the strategies for defusing conflict and generating

strategies for resolution. The course draws on psychodynamic and behavioural management

and focuses on the roles of resentment and shame and childhood history. The often urgent

situations presented to professionals can require urgent responses.

Consultation with professionals and agencies

I have a lot of experience working as a consultant to professionals and to professional

agencies in the delivery of customised training.

Here in New Zealand I have awards for the writing and delivery of curriculum at tertiary

level. I have delivered a large number of teaching webinars and classes for mediation

organisations.I have also several times been asked to consult with the Ministry of Justice on

training and writing, most recently on the government Family Justice Review Expert

Reference Group, (Te Korowai Ture ā-Whānau).

I am very familiar with the out of court dispute resolution context and am able to consult

and write curriculum for professional groups involved in this work.

I have completed consultancy work in child inclusive mediation (as a Churchill Research

Fellow ) for Cafcass England (Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service), and in

2019 I was invited by Professor Glaesser (University Viadrina) to deliver a 3-day training

to the largest mediation institution in Berlin (Berliner Institut fur Mediation).

In 2020 I gave an invited paper at the 27th world Summit of Mediators (UIA) in Milan.
